Star Wars: Legion – Clone Force 99 Expansion Coming to Pre-Order
Fans of Star Wars: Legion have something extraordinary to look forward to in 2024 (we think). Last year, quite some time ago now, Atomic Mass Games made an exciting announcement that sent ripples of anticipation through the Legion community. The elite clone troopers of the Bad Batch, known as Clone Force 99, are set to join the ranks of Star Wars: Legion, opening up a whole new dimension of gameplay possibilities. The miniatures also look cool as heck.
The official announcement from Atomic Mass Games confirmed that characters from the acclaimed animated series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, will be making their way into Star Wars: Legion as a new expansion. The announcement indicated that this product would be due for release in late 2023 or early 2024, which suggests that the pre-order will be on the way soon – but details are still scarce. What we do know is that players can anticipate the arrival of Clone Force 99 as a split affiliation strike team, allowing them to align with either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Republic.
The eagerly awaited set will feature all members of the Bad Batch, showcasing their unique skills and abilities. The introduction of Clone Force 99 into Star Wars: Legion is a move that has been met with enthusiasm from fans and players alike. Although the announcement came with limited details, the prospect of commanding these six characters from The Bad Batch TV show is undeniably thrilling. The assurance that they will be available to both the Republic and the Rebel Alliance adds an extra layer of excitement to the upcoming release.
For those unfamiliar with Clone Force 99, also known as the Bad Batch, they are a group of elite clone troopers featuring genetic mutations that set them apart from their brethren in the clone army. First introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, these mutations enable most members of the Bad Batch to resist the effects of Order 66, which turned other clones into obedient servants of Emperor Palpatine. Consequently, they become fugitives of the Galactic Empire, engaging in daring mercenary missions in the aftermath of the Clone Wars.
As the Bad Batch navigates their own path in the galaxy, the backdrop of the story sees Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin ushering in a new era within the Imperial military. With a preference for regular humans over clones, Tarkin begins phasing out the use of clone troopers, a pivotal moment in the Star Wars timeline that adds depth and complexity to the narrative.
Clone Force 99 will (hopefully) be available for pre-order here later this year.
